On this date in 1864, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson sent to 12-year-old Alice Liddell an early Christmas present: the handwritten manuscript of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In that story, he wrote this:

“One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don’t know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn’t matter.”

Write a scene in which your protagonist must choose from two or more options without knowing why or what will happen after he does.
