Today is Veterans Day, originally noted as Armistice Day (or Remembrance Day)  to commemorate the end of hostilities on the western front of World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

Today’s prompt is selected from Alfred, Lord Tennyson‘s 1854 poem The Charge of the Light Brigade, commemorating the British military’s performance at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War:

Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die.
