Today is the 1782 birth date of Daniel Webster, an orator so famous that a story portrayed him challenging the devil in court and winning the case.

He believed justice “is the great interest of man on earth. It is the ligament which holds civilized beings and civilized nations together.”

Writing prompt: Write a scene in which your antagonist must decide between doing justice and obeying the law.
