Romance – June 23

Anna Akhmatova, born on this date in 1889, wrote in her poem “The Sentence” (translated here by Judith Hemschemeyer):

Today I have so much to do
I must kill memory once and for all
I must turn soul to stone
I must learn to live again

Writing prompt: Write a scene in which your protagonist tries to kill a memory.
