Nelson Algren, born on this date in 1909, had three life rules:

“Never play cards with a man called Doc. Never eat at a place called Mom’s. Never sleep with a woman whose troubles are worse than your own.”

Writing prompt: Write your protagonist’s three life rules.

    1) Don’t bend over in the shower just because somebody tells you to pick up the soap.
    2) If you’re not cheating, you don’t really want to win.
    3) Don’t waste your money; spend it on women and drink.
