On this date in 1909, the Gazzetta dell’Emilia in Bologna, Italy, became the first of nearly a dozen newspapers to publish “The Manifesto of Futurism.”

Its author, a poet named Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, rejected the past and celebrated youth, speed, mechanization, industry, and violence.

Writing prompt: From your protagonist’s perspective on the milestone date on which your protag’s culture marks the transition from childhood to maturity, write your protagonist’s manifesto of his/her future.
